Our History
The Lanacane story begins back in 1933, when the Lanacane cream was first invented by Byron J. Hunter. As a young pharmacist working in San Antonio, Texas, Hunter saw many people suffering from insect bites and rashes aggravated by the hot climate. Dissatisfied with the limited choices available at the time, he set out to develop a new medicated topical formula that could provide more effective and longer-lasting relief.
After months of painstaking research and testing, Hunter perfected the original Lanacane formula. He named it using the first two letters of his daughter’s name ‘Lana’ and the word ‘cane’ referring to the medicinal nature of sugar cane extract, one of the key soothing ingredients. Lanacane was born.
The new Lanacane anti-itch cream quickly gained popularity for its ability to numb, cool and protect irritated skin. Its innovative formula containing pramoxine hydrochloride as the active medicinal ingredient set Lanacane apart from other brands. Word spread, demand grew rapidly, and Lanacane soon became a trusted household name across America.

Lanacane First Aid Spray
Our antibiotic first aid spray helps prevent infection in minor cuts, scrapes and burns. The fast-acting spray contains benzalkonium chloride and benzocaine to numb, cleanse and protect broken skin. The no-touch application prevents pain and contamination. It’s handy for first aid on the go.
Lanacane Medicated Body Powder
